11 Plus Mock Exams

11+ Mock   Exams at Tewkesbury Tuition use original papers written by experienced 11+ tutors led by Jane Bassett.  

Tewkesbury Tuition mock 11+ exam papers replicate real 11+ papers as used in Gloucestershire Grammar Schools and published by GL Assessment. They are based on the familiarisation material published by GL, the GL practice paper packs and detailed feedback received from children who sat the Gloucestershire Grammar Schools Admissions Test (11+) in 2024 and 2023. Prior to this the Gloucestershire Grammar Schools used CEM style 11+ papers.

Mock 11+ exam conditions mimic the “real thing”  where children sit the exam in a classroom in one of the seven Gloucestershire Grammar Schools. Contrary to popular belief, the 11+ is NOT sat in the school hall or sports hall. Approximately 20-40 children will sit the test in the same classroom. 

Test questions will be in the following categories:

PAPER A VERBAL SKILLS includes:  Reading Comprehension; Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar; Verbal Reasoning.

PAPER B NON-VERBAL SKILLS includes: Maths (Both mental arithmetic and problem solving) and Non Verbal Reasoning.

Mock 11+ Exam Sessions are two hours long, consisting of two 45-50 minute papers with a 10 minute break.

Please arrive at the exam centre at the scheduled session start time. This is the time that we will register the children, it is not when the exam will start. Please do not arrive an earlier that the scheduled session start time. 

There is ample parking at each exam centre.

Each centre has toilets available. Please ensure that your child has used the toilet before they register and enter the exam hall. 

Please collect your child promptly at the scheduled finished time. Please do not arrive more than five minutes ahead of this time as it is distracting to the children.

In Spring/Summer 2024, our mock 11+exams will take place at three venues in the Tewkesbury, Gloucester (Brockworth) and Stroud (Stonehouse) areas of Gloucestershire. Each location is within a 5 minute drive of the M5 motorway, at junctions 9, 11a and 13 respectively 

Tewkesbury: Wheatpieces Community Centre GL20 7SP

Gloucester: Brockworth Community Centre GL3 4ET

Stroud: Stonehouse Community Centre GL10 2NS

Prior booking is essential and places are limited to 40 children per session.

Parents please note that once booked, exam dates are transferable up to three days before the exam, subject to availabilty,  but refunds will not be given.

• Results from 11+ mock exams are emailed to parents within 3 - 4 working days. 

• Results include your child's overall score and breakdown for individual sections, along with the range and mean scores for all of the children who have taken the same papers. 

• Anonymous results are displayed for all children. Birth months and genders are shown.

• Up to 80 children will take each paper.

• It is important to take your child's results in context of how they have done relative to threir similarly-aged peers of the same gender.

• 11+ mock exams are not a predictor of how your child will score in the "real thing"11+ mock exams are an important part of a child's 11+ preparation, learning how to tackle the questions and honing exam technique.
