Who are the 11 Plus Mock Exams for?
Pupils in Year 5 or who have just finished Year 5 and are about to joing Year 6, applying for a place at one of the Gloucestershire Grammar Schools
Where are the Mock Exams held?
We have three different mock exam test centres to give parents the most choice of location and dates. Each test centre uses the same papers so each paper is available
Tewkesbury—Wheatpieces Community Centre ***new venue for 2024***, on the outskirts of Tewkesbury and near junction 9 of the M5 motorway
Gloucester/Brockworth-Brockworth Community Centre is located near junction 11a of the M5 motorway and is easily accessible from Cirencester and Swindon via the A417/A419
Stroud/Stonehouse-Stonehouse Community Centre is located ten minutes from the town of Stroud and five minutes drive from junction 13 of the M5 motorway making it easily accessible from Thornbury/Bristol/Bath
Is there parking?
Yes, each of our venues has a car park. .
What time should my child arrive?
Please arrive at the venue ten minutes before the scheduled start time and queue at the door to the main hall entrance. Parents will not be permitted inside the hall building, except in cases of particular need which we have been notified of. Parents must wait outside, with their child, until the doors are opened.
What should my child bring?
Your child should bring two HB pencils, a pencil sharpener with casing, eraser, tissues, drink and snack (no nuts please). No other stationery is required and mobile phones and digital watches are not permitted. Your child may wear an analogue watch and there will be analogue clocks visible to everyone.
Are the toilet facilities?
Yes, children will be encouraged to use the toilets prior to the exam and during the 10 minute break. An invigilator will accompany the children at all times.
Can my child have a snack?
Yes, the children will be encouraged to have a drink and a snack during the break time between the two test papers. These must be kept in a bag under your child’s desk until breaktime.
Can my child have a drink during the exam?
Your child must keep their drink bottle safely under their desk. If absolutely necessary, they may have a drink during the exam but this is discouraged due to them needing to maximise their exam time and the risk of spoiling their paper with a spillage.
What time should I collect my child?
Please arrive promptly to collect your child at the scheduled finish time.
When will I receive the results?
Results will be emailed to parents within 3-4 working days.
What will the results look like?
You will be sent the full results chart for all the children that have sat the same exam papers as your child, either at the same sitting or at other venues on different dates. The results on the charts are anonymous with each child identified by a PUPIL ID number. This will be allocated to your child on the day of the exam. The results charts show the overall scores and a breakdown for individual sections,
Is there a break in the exam?
Yes, as per the actual test sat at grammar schools, there will be a ten minute break in-between the first and second papers of the exam.
What if we are late?
The exam will start promptly at the scheduled start time and unfortunately latecomers will not be permitted entry.
What happens if we miss a mock exam that we have booked?
We will offer you a place on one of our other sessions, as a replacement, subject to availability, however, unfortunately we are not able to give a refund.
Can we change our booking to a different date/venue?
Yes. Registration for the exams and payment are done separately so this is easily done. If you need to change your booking, you simply need to cancel it (no refund will be given) and then book the replacement (no payment necessary). This is subject to availability and must be done more than three days before the date of the relevant exams as booking will close at this time.
Please provide your child with the following to be carried in a named, clear plastic bag:
No other stationery is required
No phones or watches may be brought into the test room.
There will be clocks visible to everyone.
Children are greeted personally at the door to the hall by the lead invigilator and are given their pupil ID number Each child is shown to their place by a friendly sixth-former or assistant invigilator and helped to organise their stationery and put their drink, snack and other belongings tidily under their desk. No talking is allowed in the hall but the children know that they simply need to raise a hand for attention or assistance. When everyone is registered and sitting at their desk, the invigilators introduce themselves and explain how the exam will work. There is a brief chance for any questions the children may have and, when everyone is ready, the audio soundtrack begins and the exam starts with children being given instructions and timings from the soundtrack. At break time, all children are encouraged to use the toilet and have a drink and snack. They have a little rest or chat to other children or the helpers. Everyone is at ease and it is a positive experience.
